Scaffolding Northampton

Scaffolding is safety equipment before it's anything else, and it needs to be erected, used and inspected by people who understand that, not just assembled quickly to get on with the job above it. We erect scaffolding across Northampton and Milton Keynes, in-house, both to support our own roofing and building projects and as a standalone service for other trades and property owners.

What Our Scaffolding Service Covers

  • Scaffolding for our own roofing, cladding, extension and general building projects

  • Standalone scaffolding hire and erection for other trades or property owners needing safe access at height

  • Domestic and commercial scaffolding, from a single-storey house to larger commercial structures

  • Temporary roof and weather protection scaffolding where a project needs to stay dry between stages

Note

Safety and Regulation

Scaffolding work in the UK is governed by the Work at Height Regulations, and scaffolders should be appropriately trained and, where relevant, hold recognised industry qualifications for the type and complexity of structure being erected. Scaffolding also needs a formal handover inspection before use and regular inspections, generally at least every seven days, throughout the period it's up. We follow this properly rather than treating it as a formality, since it's the difference between scaffolding that's genuinely safe and one that just looks the part. If you have specific questions about the qualifications and inspection regime for your particular project, we're happy to discuss this directly as part of your enquiry.

What's Involved in a Scaffolding Job

  1. A site assessment to plan the scaffold design suited to the building, access needs and the work being carried out

  2. Erecting the scaffold to a safe, stable standard, including appropriate ties, bracing and base support

  3. A formal handover inspection before the scaffold is used for any work

  4. Regular ongoing inspections throughout the period the scaffold remains up

  5. Dismantling once the work is complete

Why Choose Bridgework

  • Scaffolding erected by our own trained operatives, not a subcontractor with no accountability to the rest of the project

  • Proper handover and periodic inspections carried out and recorded

  • Available for our own projects or as a standalone hire and erection service

  • A clear quote before work starts

Scaffolding FAQs

Yes, we offer scaffolding erection and hire as a standalone service, alongside using it for our own roofing and building work.

Current regulations generally require an inspection at least every seven days while the scaffold remains in use, alongside inspections after any event that could affect its stability, such as severe weather.

In many cases yes, a licence from the local council is typically required if scaffolding needs to extend onto a public pavement or highway. We can advise on this requirement for your specific project.

This depends on the length of the project it's supporting, and regular inspections continue for as long as the scaffold remains erected, regardless of how long that turns out to be.
